How we rank installers

Draft method, last updated October 23, 2026. We'll publish changes here as the method develops.

This is a working draft. No installer has been ranked yet. When we publish rankings, they will follow this page, and we'll note any change to it.

What we look at

  1. License status. We check each company against the Florida DBPR license records: whether the license is active, what it covers, and how long it's been held. An installer without the right active license isn't ranked.
  2. Real quotes. Prices and line items from actual homeowner quotes, shared with permission and with personal details removed. We'll say how many quotes a comparison is based on.
  3. Work we can verify. Local jobs we can see or confirm, such as photos taken by us or by homeowners, and public records where they exist.
  4. Clarity and terms. Whether quotes spell out products, ratings, permits, warranties, and payment terms in writing.
  5. Complaints and disputes. Public complaint records and how they were handled.

What we ignore

  • Whether an installer pays us, a lead partner, or anyone else.
  • Ad spend, sponsorships, and marketing claims we can't check.

When there isn't enough information

If we don't have enough real information about a company, we say so instead of guessing. Thin profiles stay unranked.
